Today we are happy to introduce the Create Pro Mac Pro 5,1 test rig. This is the Mac Pro that we will use in most of our future videos (check out our YouTube channel here). We’ll be running benchmark tests, trying out new parts for the Mac Pro as well as sharing general tips & tricks.
We’ve outfitted the Mac Pro with the most popular specification requested by our clients. We have dual 3.46Ghz 6 core Intel Xeon X5690 processors, that’s a total of 12 cores and 24 threads. Perfect for large audio sessions, video editing, rendering and just about any other intensive task. 6 sticks of 16GB 1333MHz RAM for a total of 96GB RAM in a triple channel configuration. For the GPU we have the Nvidia GTX 980 Ti 6GB, for us the best GPU for creative professionals. Finally, we have a 512GB Samsung SM951 flash storage module on a Mac Pro PCIe adapter for our OS and applications, as well as some traditional 7200RPM HDDs for archive storage.
Of course for audio professionals the system would be the same except for replacing the GTX 980 Ti with a basic GPU.
Check out the video introduction below and let us know in the comments if there are any particular parts you would like us to test, benchmarks you’d like us to run or tips you’d like us to share.
